Webcomics

Brett and I may start a webcomic!! YAYS! Although neither of us can code html so I've been eyeballing Drunk Duck as a place to host it. I'm pretty sure they have templates! Anyone have any advice? ASIDE from 'learn html' because that's just not gonna happen!

I'm also submitting our latest project to publishers. It's Brett's brainchild- this time I'm the 'hired gun' and did the script based off of his idea and characters. Wish us luck!! A few places I wanted to send it want the sample comic pages lettered! Which I did not know, so that means I have to go and letter them. Blerg! I don't exactly love lettering. I mean I CAN and I should get better at it but it's just tedious. Also the Photoshop pen tool is the BANE of my existance! Seriously! So I guess I need to read up on it and just do it to it! LOL!

I'll be lettering our webcomic too once that's off the ground. I also lost like half the materials for it- not the script thank heavens! But the character descriptions and such. Still, Bretts got the script so that's cool. Of course I set the comic in NY which I've been to exactly ONCE! Anyone out there live in NYC? I need advice on the city! Or go tell Brett about it, he has to draw it!

ALSO (PLEASE HELP ME!)- I am open for commissions! I am always open! for 8x10 prints it is $15+ $2.00 shipping for up to 2 characters- pretty much anything goes- nothing super explicit though please. Yaoi, yuri, het, furry, fan art (send refferences) and such. Whatever. It's non-exclusive though- I'll use the commission on etsy and such!

Cheaper- if you just want a jpeg and don't mind me milking it for all it's worth elsewhere- etsy- then $5 for any single full color chibi!

  • Watching: Trinity Blood
  • Playing: RuneCrack (AKA) RuneFactory 1
  • Eating: vitamins
  • Drinking: water

I prefer Smack Jeeves for comic hosting. The community on there is great. I mean, I suck big time and yet still have 11 readers! lol
It does the templates and everything for you, just upload your comic pages ^^
And if you do put it on SJ, I can fave it :D

Seriously best place to host your comic for FREE with some free templates and a friendly community PLUS NO ADs would be Comic Dish [link]

The staff is really friendly and helpful. To join just sign up for the forum and you're good to go.

Drunk Duck and Smack Jeeves are okay but they're laden with ads and the designs (particularly as SJ) are yuck.
However, Comic Dish has a feature that lets you mirror your webcomic on DD and SJ. ;)

Also the community is updating to 2.0. If you join the forum you can give them feedback on what you want from them. ;)

Thanks for the link! I checked them out. Seems a little hard to navigate but maybe you have to be signed in? Also it's hard to find/browse comics. Are they going to be fixing this? Or agian, do you have to be logged in?
:iconspiderliing666:
So it DOES have templates! What are they like? Do you just upload art and it 'makes' pages for you?
:iconmodesty:
Yes much of the site will be fixed. Agreed navigation is a bit blah.

This topic shows what the new layout will be.

Browsing is on the right hand side of the main page on the "Last Updated" column and "Latest Comics". On the bottom it says "browse comics". I tried this being logged out but a search form comes up as well as a long list of comics.

The temples are kind of generic, but you can upload your own banner and modify a bit.
Yup. You just upload and BAM there's your page XD
